To be tuned for fuel efficiency.
Zigwheels reports that Suzuki Motorcycle India is planning a commuter motorcycle based on the newly launched Suzuki Gixxer. The new product in question would have an aggressive price target.
Unlike the Gixxer which is marketed as a 'street sports' motorcycle, the upcoming bike would be targeting the mass commuter market and hence would adopt a conservative styling. Features like fully digital instrument console, rear mono suspension, beefy tyres and sporty dual exhaust silencer are expected to be omitted in the interest of affordability.
The 155 cc air-cooled petrol engine which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and a majority of other cycle parts would be inherited from the Gixxer to benefit from the economies of scale. The Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine is reported to be detuned in order to achieve a better fuel economy. Further details of the motorcycle are scarce as of now.

If launched, the Gixxer-based commuter could replace the slow selling GS150R. Suzuki's future portfolio however would be dominated by automatic scooters.
