The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is shared with the CLA 45 AMG.
Motoring World reports that the Mercedes GLA 45 AMG performance variant would be available in India right from the launch which is confirmed as September 30.
The compact luxury crossover which is based on the front-wheel driven MFA platform is touted to become one of the chief volume spinners for the brand in India. The go-faster AMG version, which landed earlier in India in May for testing and homologation, would act as a brand shaper.
The GLA 45 AMG is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is shared with the recently launched CLA 45 AMG. At outputs of 360 PS (354.9 bhp) and 450 Nm of torque, the Affalterbach-made engine is claimed to be the world's most powerful four-pot motor in series production.

The transmission is an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-Speed unit which distributes power to all the four wheels via a MFA-spec 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h and the crossover takes just 4.8 seconds to hit triple digit speed from rest.
The GLA 45 AMG, brought in via the CBU route, could be launched at about INR 75-80 lakhs, ex-showroom.
