Replacing the SX4, the Ciaz will offer significantly more rear legroom thanks to its class-leading 2,650 mm wheelbase which betters the Honda City's 2,600 mm. The new Maruti measures 4,490 mm in length, 1,730 mm in width and 1,485 mm in height.
Powering the new Ciaz is the 1.4-liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-liter diesel sourced from Fiat. Both engines are paired to 5-speed manual transmissions as standard, though the petrol can be optionally had with a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Both engines deliver class-leading fuel economy according to ARAI tests. The petrol is good for 20.73 km/l (manual transmission) and the diesel's 26.21 km/l makes it the country's most fuel efficient car.
