Launches a fresh assault on the BMW 3 Series.
Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) in January 2014, the just-launched 2015 Mercedes C Class is present at the CAMPI 2014 (Philippines International Motor Show 2014). The car is priced between 3.58 million - 3.88 million Philippines Pesos (INR 49.33 lakhs to INR 53.31 lakhs).
Based on the MRA (Modular Rear wheel drive Architecture), the new C Class is 95 mm longer and 40 mm wider than its predecessor. The wheelbase is bettered by 80 mm. Thanks to the new hybrid aluminium construction, the sedan has lost 100 kg.
Available in C200 and C250 variants, both variants share the 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine which delivers 282.9 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1200–4000 rpm in its highest tune. Both variants are driven by a 7-speed automatic transmission (7G-TRONIC PLUS) and the higher variant hits 100 kph from a standstill in 6.6 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250 kph.
The 2015 Mercedes C Class gets DISTRONIC PLUS, AIR BALANCE, AIRMATIC suspension as optional fitments. The car will be launched in India in early 2015. The sedan competes with the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series.
