Here is a detailed look at the features and specifications of the recently launched Tata Zest.

Engine and Gearbox:

  • Petrol engine option: 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged MPFI SOHC producing 88.73 bhp @ 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750 – 3,500 rpm; ARAI mileage at 17.6 km/l; kerb weight 1,115 – 1,135 kg
  • Diesel engine option 1: 1.3-liter four-cylinder DOHC producing 73.94 bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque between 1,750 – 3,000 rpm; kerb weight 1,152 kg
  • Diesel engine option 2: 1.3-liter four-cylinder DOHC producing 88.73 bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque between 1,750 – 3,000 rpm; ARAI mileage at 23 km/l (for manual transmission); kerb weight 1,155 – 1,170 kg
  • Petrol and diesel get 5-speed manual transmissions; More powerful diesel is available with a 5-speed AMT as an option
  • Interesting facts: The Revotron petrol engine is based on the 1.2-liter Xeta petrol engine.

Suspension, Brakes and Tires:

  • Rear: Semi-independent twist beam with coil spring and shock absorber
  • Disc brakes at the front, drum brakes at the rear

    The most common mistake which car manufacturers in India commit is of giving an automatic transmission variant only for mid trim level…… When will they understand that AT option in a country like India is taken as a luxury feature and not necessity…. I had planned to buy a top end TATA ZEST with AT , dissapointed now I wont. Why can’t you ( TATA) give AT in top trims like the Hyundai does.

        tata cant fix this little thing…… because they dont have young engineers team…. old man`s team ….. tata , bata …..etc etc
