Mr. Rod Copes was the former head of global sales and customer service at Harley Davidson.
Royal Enfield has appointed Mr. Rod Copes as the president of its North American operations. The move is to expand its presence in the USA which is one of the leading export markets of the India-based two wheeler brand.
Mr. Copes, former head of global sales and customer service at Harley Davidson (HD), has nearly 20 years of experience with the American brand. He played an instrumental role in establishing HD's presence in emerging markets including India.
In his new role as President, Royal Enfield North America, Mr. Copes will be responsible for increasing the brand's performance in the US and Canada.
Speaking about the appointment, Mr. Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd. said:
The USA is an important market for us as we aspire to become the leader in the global mid-sized motorcycle industry. We realize that the mid-sized motorcycle market is underserved and opportunities are immense on this continent.
In July 2014, Royal Enfield sold 27,314 units, its best ever monthly sales performance. Domestic sales contributed to 26,796 units at a growth rate of 80% compared to the same month last year while exports grew at 60% clocking 518 units.
