The Renaultsport R.S. 01 celebrated its world premiere today at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show (Moscow International Auto Salon 2014).
Built on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and weighing less than 1,100 kg, the racecar is powered by a Nismo V6 3.8L twin-turbo engine mounted in the central rear position. The engine produces more than 500 bhp of power and 600 Nm of torque. It is matched to a Sadev 7-speed sequential gearbox, and enables the R.S. 01 to achieve a top-speed of 300 km/h. The maximum engine speed is 6,800 rpm.
Stopping power comes from 380 mm carbon discs with 6-piston calipers and a Bosch ABS system, aside from the fact that the car rides on specially-developed 18-inch Michelin tires. The racecar measures 4,710 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, 1,116 mm in height and 2,744 mm in wheelbase.
From 2015, the Renault Sport R.S. 01 will be "one of the stars of World Series by Renault in a new championship", called the Renault Sport Trophy.
