The new flagship of KTM's Adventure family.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure motorcycle has been confirmed as the Austrian two-wheeler giant has released a single official image of the bike and announced that the world premiere would take place at INTERMOT 2014 in Cologne, Germany, on September 30.
Through a latest blog post, KTM has revealed that the motorcycle will be positioned alongside the 1190 Adventure when the sales commence next year.
Without revealing the technical details, the firm describes the Super Adventure as a motorcycle with an "incredibly large fuel tank". The equipment list will include the Motorcycle Stability Control system which is developed in association with Bosch, ABS and TCS. KTM went on to say that its flagship tourer will be equipped with "absolutely unique electronically supported riding assistance equipment".
The '1290' in the name suggests that the power would come from the Super Duke 1290 R's 1,301 cc V-twin engine. In the street fighter, the motor develops a healthy 180 PS and 144 Nm of torque when mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
As far as the looks are concerned, one would be hard pressed to identify the 1290 Super Adventure from the 1190 Adventure. KTM would rely on new color themes and decals to distinguish the new tourer from its slightly smaller engined sibling.
