Punto-based crossover to be the third launch for Fiat India this year.
Fiat India has released another teaser of the Avventura crossover through email. Speaking to Indian Autos Blog last week at the launch of the Punto Evo, Fiat Chrysler India's president and managing director, Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli, said that the Avventura will launch within 60 days (by October 6).
In the latest teaser, the company talks about the "multi purpose" roof rails of the car which are capable of carrying bicycles. Apart from this, the Punto-based crossover also gets plastic body claddings, skid guards, projector headlights, an exposed spare wheel and possibly increased ground clearance. The interior of the Avventura comes with contrast stitching and roll-and-tilt gauges.
Powering the car will be the same set of engines seen on the Punto Evo, which are a 1.2- and 1.4-liter petrol and a 1.3-liter diesel available in two states of tunes. Though all engines come with a 5-speed manual transmission on the Punto, the Avventura shown at the Auto Expo featured a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Apart from the Avventura, Fiat India will also launch the Abarth 500 by the end of this year.
