Ahead of its Indian launch on August 11, Hyundai India has revealed the first design sketches of the next generation 2015 Hyundai i20, which the company is calling the "Elite i20" (similar to the Fluidic Verna, Neo-Fluidic Elantra etc.).
The second generation of the hatchback was designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany. The company says that the car adopts the new ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy "in a sophisticated and distinctive design".
Though spy images have already revealed the exterior and interior of the new i20, the design of the car, according to Hyundai, is characterized by a long hood, sculpted body sides and a dark treatment for the C-Pillar. The front of the car features a new hexagonal grille and a thin horizontal strip which connects the headlamps. Towards the rear, the i20 gets an almost wrap-around rear window and taillights which integrate into the bootlid.
Hyundai has not revealed the technical specifications of the car, though existing powertrains which include 1.2- and 1.4-liter engines are expected to continue doing duty albeit with minor modifications.
