Piaggio will introduce a new offering during the festive season in the form of the Vespa Elegante. A report on the Economic Times says that the new scooter will arrive in India towards Diwali this year, with prices starting at approximately INR 79,000 ex-Showroom.
The Vespa Elegante will be based on the Vespa VX's platform, but will offer more stylish looks to better differentiate itself from the VX. Some design features of the Elegante will be borrowed from the Vespa Primavera which is available internationally. Unlike the recently launched Vespa S, the Elegante will come with circular headlights.
Other design features on the scooter will come in the form of split seats, a triangular grille and exclusive colors such as 'Pearl White' and 'Marrakech Brown'. Powering the Elegante will be the same 125 cc 3-valve four-stroke engine seen on other Vespa models in India. The engine makes 10 PS (9.85 bhp) of peak power and 10.06 Nm of torque. A CVT gearbox is used to transmit the power. Stopping power will come in the form of a disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear.
Piaggio recently launched the limited edition Vespa Esclusivo in India of which only 1,000 units will be retailed.
