Mercedes-Benz will launch the Mercedes GLA crossover in India in the festive season month of October, says a report on ZigWheels. Dealers of Mercedes India started accepting bookings for the car since May this year for INR 1 lakh.
The report says that two engine options will be seen on the GLA in India. A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor will make 154 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, while a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel will make 134 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which will send drive to the front wheels.
Based on the same MFA (Mercedes Front wheel drive Architecture) as the A Class, the GLA shares its interior with the hatchback. It gets a similar three-spoke steering wheel, circular AC vents and a central COMAND screen.
In India, the GLA will take on successful rivals like the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and the Volvo V40 Cross Country.
Another MFA car Mercedes will introduce in India is the CLA, which is confirmed to launch within six months.
