Spied – IAB reader catches the Maruti SX4 S-Cross on test

The Maruti SX4 S-Cross has been testing in India since the time it was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. The crossover, has been recently spotted testing again by IAB reader Mr. Tarun Sharma.

The Maruti SX4 S-Cross would compete with the likes of the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Mahindra Scorpio.

The SX4 S-Cross is expected to launch in early 2015. In international markets, the SX4 S-Cross is available with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor generates 118.3 bhp (120 PS) and 156 Nm of torque, and is coupled either to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The diesel engine is a Fiat sourced 1.6-litre MultiJet mill which also churns out 118.3 bhp (120 PS) while the torque output stands at 320 Nm. The oil burner is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The compact crossover is expected to be launched in India in early 2015.

The European SX4 S-Cross is equipped with Suzuki’s ALLGRIP all-wheel-drive system as an option. It’s rumored that the India-spec diesel variant could employ a Peugeot-sourced diesel engine.

    Main issue with S coss will be the engine. 1249cc fiat sourced diesel is definitely under power for this. Maruti can not produce a diesel engine of thier own nor this car can sell with petrol only. As they havn’t sourced the 1.6 multi jet diesel from fiat, it’ll be interesting to see where from the source a powerful diesel for this.

    The front needs to be more attractive…..the front looks very pale and lost it’s shape in proportions. Are Japanese lack in art and architecture???? but, they are utilitarian…!!

      Agree to that. Ugly front is killing the otherwise a very good car. Even if Maruti is too late to change the front, hope they change the front grill before launch
