Maruti has launched a limited edition on the Ritz called the Maruti Ritz Elate. The limited edition, based on the mid VXi/VDi trim, brings several exterior and interior features to the hatchback.
On the outside, the Elate edition comes with door visors, body graphics, alloy wheels and 'Elate' badges. Inside, the car gets a 2-DIN JVC music system with Bluetooth and Aux, specially designed seat covers, reverse parking sensors, floor mats and a multipurpose bag.
Maruti's website doesn't give out the prices of the Elate edition, though estimates are it would cost INR 20,000 - 30,000 more than the regular Ritz VXi/VDi. The website also doesn't mention the planned production units of this limited edition.
Though the Ritz and Swift are similarly priced, its the latter which brings huge volumes for the car maker. In the first six months of this year, Maruti sold 104,872 units of the Swift (equating to a monthly average of 17,478 units), whereas the Ritz managed only 16,195 units (averaging 2,700 units/month).
Based on the platform of the older Swift, the Ritz gets the same engine options - 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and 1.3-liter Multijet diesel. The petrol motor is also offered with a 4-speed automatic transmission apart from a 5-speed manual.
