The Fiat Avventura crossover, which was unveiled at Auto Expo 2014 as a near production concept, has been teased on the car maker's official website with an image saying "Coming Soon". The Punto-based crossover is expected to be launched in the next couple of months.
The Avventura is essentially a Punto with a rough road package and an external spare wheel. The production version of the Avventura will look almost the same as the Auto Expo concept. The front fascia gets redesigned headlamps and grille which will also be featured in the Punto facelift, another Fiat model that is ready to be launched roughly in the same time frame.
The black plastic cladding throughout the lower body, Avventura branded side rub strips, new bumpers, unique alloy wheel pattern, roof rails and HID headlamps differentiate the Avventura from the Punto.
On the inside, the show car came with full black interiors with contrast orange stitching but the test mules featured dual tone beige interiors like in the new Linea and the upcoming Punto facelift.
The 'instant crossover' would borrow its powertrain options from the Punto. The petrol engine lineup comprises a 1.2-litre and a 1.4-litre unit while the 1.3-litre MultiJet would be the diesel variant's servant. Interestingly, the Avventura concept was equipped with a hitherto unseen 6-speed manual transmission.
Competitors: VW Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross
