BMW India will launch three M performance cars in India this calendar year.
Mr. Philipp von Sahr, president of BMW India, told Indian Autos Blog at the launch of the ActiveHybrid 7 that the company intends on introducing the new M3, M4 and M5 LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) later this year. "In the next 2-3 months, the new M3 Sedan, the M4 coupe and the new M5 sedan will come", he said.
The new M3 and M4 are powered by a newly-developed 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo engine capable of producing 431 bhp between 5,500 - 7,300 rpm, and 550 Nm of torque between 1,850 - 5,500 rpm. The engine uses either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to send power to the rear wheels.
The refreshed M5 gets similar styling updates seen on the updated 5 Series range. It continues to use the 4.4-liter V8 engine as before, though an optional Competition Pack adds 15 bhp to it. The performance sedan receives a sports exhaust system, lower ride height and M ceramic brakes which shave off 0.1 second in its 0-100 km/h time.
