The BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid, the first ever hybrid offering in India from BMW - in fact from the German trio - will be launched on July 23, BMW India confirmed today.
The 7 Series ActiveHybrid is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder Twin Power Turbo petrol engine that pumps out 320 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The IC engine is combined with an electric motor producing 55 hp and 210 Nm of torque. The combined output of the hybrid system stands at 354 hp.
The power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid luxury sedan can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds before hitting the electronic limiter at 250 km/h. Despite the blazing performance, the 7 Series ActiveHybrid delivers a commendable 14.7 km/l in the European driving cycle and the CO2 emission stands at 158 g/km.
The current Indian 7 Series range comprises the 730 Ld, 740 Li, 750 Li and the flagship 760 Li. The latest addition to the 7 Series family will slot below the 760 Li. The range starts at INR 97.5 lakhs goes up to INR 1.78 crore (ex-showroom).
The BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid is essentially a brand shaping variant while the the 730 Ld would be the volume earner for the 7er family.
