Rendering – 2015 Mazda2 sedan has the Honda City in its crosshairs

The 2015 Mazda2 world premiered last week with sales scheduled to commence in the later part of this year. Given that the previous iteration included a sedan, it’s only a matter of time before the 2015 Mazda2 sedan surfaces.
Here is a set of speculative renderings of the upcoming model by Theophilus Chin. The car would have its dimensions in the vicinity of popular B segment sedans like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. It goes without saying that the 3-box Mazda2 will inherit its platform and powertrian options from its hatchback sibling.
Adopting the ‘KODO’ design theme that was previewed by the Mazda Hazumi concept, the 2 sedan, as these renderings suggest, will have a seamless transition from the hatchback styling, with a sporty silhouette. The rear fascia design would be influenced by the Mazda3 sedan.
In addition to the sedan, the Mazda2 platform would also spawn a compact crossover SUV called by the media as the CX-3. The crossover in question will tuck under the CX-5 and will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Peugeot 2008 and likes.
As of now, Mazda have no plans to enter the Indian market.
Competitors: Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento (Polo Sedan)
