The 2015 Mazda2 world premiered last week with sales scheduled to commence in the later part of this year. Given that the previous iteration included a sedan, it's only a matter of time before the 2015 Mazda2 sedan surfaces.
Here is a set of speculative renderings of the upcoming model by Theophilus Chin. The car would have its dimensions in the vicinity of popular B segment sedans like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. It goes without saying that the 3-box Mazda2 will inherit its platform and powertrian options from its hatchback sibling.
Adopting the 'KODO' design theme that was previewed by the Mazda Hazumi concept, the 2 sedan, as these renderings suggest, will have a seamless transition from the hatchback styling, with a sporty silhouette. The rear fascia design would be influenced by the Mazda3 sedan.
In addition to the sedan, the Mazda2 platform would also spawn a compact crossover SUV called by the media as the CX-3. The crossover in question will tuck under the CX-5 and will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Honda HR-V, Peugeot 2008 and likes.
As of now, Mazda have no plans to enter the Indian market.
Competitors: Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento (Polo Sedan)
