The early prototype of the SUV has been spotted with Tiguan's body shell but is noticeably shorter. VW is testing the chassis components of the car and speaking of chassis, the T-ROC is based on VW's highly versatile MQB platform.

As per reports, power comes from a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that is available on the Golf GTD. Mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, the motor pumps out 181 hp and 380 Nm of torque. The top speed is claimed to be 210 km/h. The concept was equipped with permanent all wheel drive system with three driving modes - Street, Offroad and Snow.

The T-ROC would be positioned between the 2016 Taigun and Tiguan in a bid to strengthen VW's global SUV portfolio. The T-ROC measures 4,179 mm in length, 1,831 mm in width and 1,501 mm in height while the wheelbase stands at 2,595 mm. In comparison, the Tiguan measures 4,433 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width, 1,703 in height and 2,604 in wheelbase.

With a whole new design language, the VW T-ROC would have the Nissan Juke in its crosshair. Given that VW has just started testing the vehicle, the production T-ROC could take 2-3 years to see the light of day.
