Suzuki India has slashed the price of the the Suzuki GW250 Inazuma by a whole INR 1 lakh, Overdrive reports. The new price stands at INR 2.1 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi)
Suzuki has confirmed the price alignment after many prospects did not convert to customers because of the steep price. The Inazuma is the only motorcycle in its class to have a twin-cylinder engine but the price proved to be a major barrier for it to be appreciated by more riders.
As of the first week of May 2014, Suzuki had sold just 200 units of the motorcycle since the launch on the 20th of January. The bike is assembled in India.
The downward price revision makes the Inazuma a more appealing proposition, while proving to be a contrasting alternative, with its spacious seat and well-refined motor, to the KTM Duke 390, which is priced at INR 2.1 lakh (on-road) in Mumbai.
Suzuki has told Overdrive that the 200 odd customers who already own one need not worry about this price cut as they intend to compensate them.
To recap the Inazuma is powered by a 248 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine matched to a six-speed transmission. It is 2,145 mm long, 760 mm wide, 1,075 mm tall, with a seat height of 780 mm.
The bike is mounted on a 110/80 x 17 front tyre and a 140/70 x 17 rear tire. Dual chrome exhaust mufflers and dual lens lights are some of its noteworthy features. The motorcycle comes in two body colors - Candy Cardinal Red and Pearl Nebular Black.
