Authorized Suzuki dealers confirm to IndianAutosBlog.com that bookings for the Suzuki Gixxer are underway for INR 5,000. The bikes would reach dealerships in the first week of July, and deliveries would commence immediately.
The single-cylinder 150 cc Gixxer was showcased prior to the Auto Expo, and made its public premiere at the exhibition. Detailed specifications of the motorcycle are yet to be announced, and just one color - blue - is confirmed.
The Gixxer will have 'Suzuki Eco Performance' that cuts mechanical losses and attains design efficiency, as announced by the company during its unveiling. Suzuki also said that the Gixxer would have “exceptional riding performance” and “best fuel economy in class”. It is built on "a light and stiff frame" for sporty handling.
The Gixxer comes with a digital instrument panel, front disc brake, 100/80 and 140/60 front and rear 17-inch wheels, and a stubby end can. The price positioning would be similar to the Bajaj Pulsar and the Yamaha FZ.
Suzuki India's senior official had told IndianAutosBlog.com last month that all its four current products would be upgraded in the course of the year. The larger plan of the company is opening a further 400 dealerships in India and sell 10 lakh two-wheelers in the next three years.
