Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Vivek Dogra, snapped the Maruti SX4 S-Cross in Himachal Pradesh recently. The S-Cross spotted here is identified as the diesel variant as the tachometer (marked till 6,000 rpm) suggests so. The gearbox is a six-speed manual.
The interior image gives us an idea as to what to expect from the premium Maruti. The 3-spoke steering wheel is from the Swift/Dzire/Ertiga, while the design of the instrument cluster reminds us of the Swift. The car is devoid of an engine starter button, though Maruti could include this feature when it puts the S-Cross on sale.
The dashboard is seen in a black color with silver inserts for the music system, gear well and AC vents. The overall design of the dashboard is inline with products such as the Swift and Dzire.
The S-Cross, which made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo, will launch early next year. The crossover will compete with the Renault Duster/Nissan Terrano, and is expected to be priced in the INR 10 lakh region. The dimensions of the S-Cross are 4,300 x 1,765 x 1,575 (LxWxH in mm). The wheelbase of the car measures 2,600 mm, and the ground clearance is 170 mm (Euro model).
The diesel variant of the S-Cross could either be powered by the 1.6-liter Fiat Multijet engine or a 1.6-liter Peugeot engine.
