The next generation Ford Endeavour was spotted on test in China. Set to be unveiled as a production model next year, the new Endeavour is eyeing an Indian entry sometime in 2016.
Ford previewed the design of the SUV through the Everest concept, which was first shown in Sydney, Australia, last year. The American carmaker, at the time of the showcase, said that the production version would hit showrooms two years from then.
An engineer in Ford stated that the concept was near production ready, and that only minor design tweaks would be applied to places like the wheels, wheel arches and lights of the production SUV. The interiors of the car are expected to be carried over in bits and pieces from the F150, Explorer and Flex.
An 8-inch touchscreen display along with Ford's second gen SYNC2 multimedia system would be seen in the new Endeavour. Another feature that has been confirmed is the rear coil springs, which replace the current model's truck-like leaf spring setup.
Engine options would most likely the same as the current Endeavour. The Indian model is available with a 2.5-liter 143 PS diesel engine or a 3.0-liter 156 PS diesel engine. The gearbox, going by reports, would be upgraded to 6-speed manual and automatic units (the current model uses 5-speed units).
