TVS has confirmed that the TVS Scooty Zest will be launched in June and that the TVS Victor will make a comeback, with a launch slated for the next quarter (July-September).
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the TVS Star City+ in Chennai today, TVS Group's chairman Venu Srinivasan had confirmed the launch of the next two models from TVS.
The Scooty Zest was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. Vinay Harne, head of New Product Development, confirmed to IAB that no changes have been made to the vehicle since then and that it will be launched as is. The Zest is powered by the same 110 cc engine that now powers the TVS Jupiter, TVS Wego and the TVS Star City+.
For the Zest, the engine, a 109.7 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder unit, is borrowed from the Wego. In the Wego, this engine produces 8 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. It is mated to a V-Matic CVT transmission.
As for the TVS Victor, very little was divulged other than that it would be launched in the next quarter of 2014, between July and September. It will be positioned in the commuter segment, which contributes to around 6 lakh units each month, against a total market size of 8.5 lakh units.
The Victor will be the fourth product for the company in the commuter segment, following the Sport, Phoenix 125 and the Star City+. Without divulging what the engine capacity would be, Harne said that the Victor's engine will follow the same principles of the Ecothrust series that focuses on torque, fuel efficiency, power and reliability.
