The Tata Movus is nothing but a repositioned Sumo Grande with a few mechanical improvements.

Power for the Movus comes from a 2.2-liter four-cylinder VARICOR engine producing 120 PS and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata claims the Movus will do 15.16 km/l and say they have fitted a new rack and pinion steering and a new 260 mm diameter concentric sleeve cylinder with a self actuating clutch for improved life.

This is not a new launch. The upcoming launch of the Zest and the Bolt will the “New launches” for this year.

Please don’t confuse the “upgrades” or “face-lifts” for “new launches”. The word ‘launched” is a generic word.

New Car launches doesn’t happen in just few months, they take 2 to 3 years (at-the-very-least). To launch a car in the year 2015, a manufacturer would have to start the project in the year 2012.

As a stop-gap measure, the manufacturer has to introduce “upgrades” and “face-lifts” along with the “new launches”, every year. 🙂

Change of name does not automatically translate to change in perception and that means this vehicle will be wherever the Sumo Grande was before the change of name.

This is probably a better SUV than the Korean RX6 without the frills.

Bigger head lights and modified grill along with the body cladding would have made the movus looks more promising.

TATA R&D team would have copied the TATA XENON design….

    6.99 L for a vehicle which already has a negative perception ??
They should have competed head on with Bolero.
    Now,
All I could say is good luck.
All I could think is R.I.P.

You Should Compare Engine Specification Of Both Movus & Balero

      1) Movus Has Almost Double The BHP Of Balero.
      2) Sumo Grande Has Much Better Interier Than Balero
      3) Sumo Grande Has Much Comfortable Ride.
