The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG was spotted on the roads of Mumbai by Indian Autos Blog readers Paranjay Dutt and Limin Mathew. The vehicle could be a display/media vehicle or a test mule. The CLA 45 was showcased by Mercedes India at the Auto Expo in February, with a market launch set to take place soon.
A 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine is found under the hood the CLA, and Mercedes claims this engine to be the world's most powerful series production four-cylinder engine. Power and torque outputs are at 355 hp and 450 Nm, while the drive is sent to all four wheels via Mercedes's 4MATIC technology and an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed transmission.
The result is that the CLA 45 AMG can do 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, while the top-speed is restricted to 250 km/h. In the EU test, the CLA 45 claims to deliver 14.08 km/l. Features such an AMG sports steering wheel and gearlever, carbon-trimmed interiors, three stage ESP with Curve Dynamic Assist and aerodynamic front and rear bumpers with carbon fiber trims are seen exclusive to the CLA 45 AMG.
The CLA 45 will be brought into India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route, and will be positioned as Mercedes India's most affordable AMG model. In Europe, the car is priced at 47,600 euros (INR 40 lakhs).
