As per several reports online, the Maruti Celerio CNG has been launched at INR 4.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and INR 4.92 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The CNG version of the B-Segment hatch is powered by the same 1.0-liter three-cylinder K10B engine that delivers 58 bhp (about 10 bhp down from petrol).
The Celerio CNG does not come with AMT, and is operated with a five-speed manual transmission. The CNG kit is the factory-fitted Maruti i-GPI (Intelligent-Gas Port Injection) technology that injects CNG gas into the combustion chamber. The same kit is used on other Maruti CNG vehicles from the Alto to Ertiga.
The Celerio CNG delivers a mileage of 31.79 km/kg and is available only on the VXi trim. In comparison, the petrol-powered Celerio delivers 23.1 kpl. The effect of the gas cylinder on the boot space is still to be understood.
The Celerio launched in February and within a month, the demand for the A-Star replacement led the company to consider doubling the monthly production capacity at the Manesar plant to 10,000 units. 50 percent of the 36,000 bookings registered until the end of April were for the AMT, that led to waiting periods balloon to 8 months for this variant.
