Jaguar has released a new teaser for its upcoming Jaguar XE sedan. The teaser shows the sedan with transparent body panels, exposing the sub-frame and crash structures.
The XE is reported to make its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The sedan will be pitted against the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4. The car was officially announced at the Geneva Motor Show on Marth 4 earlier this year, and will be built from aluminium (a segment-first) on a completely new, in-house developed platform.
Engines for the sedan will come from the 'Ingenium' family, which is the first engine series that Jaguar has developed after it was acquired by Tata Motors.
The Jaguar XE was recently spotted testing in France. The sedan is set to go on sale towards the middle of 2015 and will be the cheapest Jaguar yet. It will be powered by 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, while Jaguar has confirmed that the top-end variant of the XE will get the same 6-cylinder engine used on the F-Type.
The F-Type’s V6 engine, a 3.0-liter supercharged V6, is available in 340 PS and 380 PS guises. We presume Jaguar engineers will dial up the output as its nearest variant rival, the BMW M3, develops 430 hp.
