Honda Cars India will launch two new products this fiscal year, the Mobilio and the new Jazz. The Mobilio will be the first to launch, with trial production having already commenced at Honda's Greater Noida facility. The market launch of the Mobilio is expected to take place in the July-September period.
Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior vice-president for Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India, said that the company is targeting a high localization percentage for the Mobilio. This should not be much of a challenge given that the Mobilio is based on the Brio/Amaze's platform, which is well localized in the country. The localization on Honda's current portfolio is about 90 percent.
Mr. Sen said that the interior space would make the Mobilio a segment leader, however, exact dimensions were not shared as the car is yet to undergo homologation.
Speaking about the new Jazz, Honda had a localization of 72-73 percent for the hatchback in 2009. This figure would be much higher for the replacement to price it competitively. For now, the company is yet to decide on the variants, or even a production location for that matter. While we know that the Jazz will be offered with petrol and diesel engines, an automatic transmission was confirmed by him.
Honda had previously stated that the Mobilio would be launched in the last quarter of the fiscal (January-March 2015).
