The Fiat Avventura crossover has been caught testing in India again. The crossover made its world debut at the Auto Expo 2014 and as reported earlier, it is expected on the market closer to the festival season.

The spyhots are from TeamFiat.com member Gurjinder. As opposed to the previous time we saw an Avventura test mule, this time three vehicles were spotted and all of them sported complete body gear.

The Avventura is the Fiat Punto with add-ons to make it seem like a crossover. The headlamp, bumper and grille have been redesigned to distinguish from the current Punto.

The market for pseudo-crossover versions of existing hatchbacks hasn't exactly boosted sales, either for Skoda (Fabia Scout) or Volkswagen (Cross Polo). The latest entrant, the Toyota Etios Cross, has just launched this month.

To further highlight the 'crossover' quotient of the Avventura, Fiat is giving the car an exposed spare wheel and a swinging tailgate, besides roof rails, new bumpers, side body mouldings and diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The diesel engine powering the Avventura will be the 1.3-liter Multijet, which, depending on the state of tune, can produce either 75 PS or 90 PS. Fiat has the option of using 1.2- and 1.4-liter engines to power the petrol variants of the Avventura, though using the 1.4-liter engine, seen on the Punto, will effectively classify it as a ‘mid-size’ car, thereby pushing up the taxes.
