Posted on: May 27, 2014 - 9:20am IST

Toyota is working on replacements for the Innova and Fortuner, and both these cars will be updated in India come 2016. At about the same time, Toyota will be ready with new diesel engines which will be seen powering these cars. The highlight of the new Innova is that the diesel variant will receive an automatic transmission that it currently is not seen with, industry sources told Indian Autos Blog.

The highlight of the new Innova is that the diesel model will benefit from an automatic transmission.

The same sources mentioned that its unlikely for the new Innova to use a monocoque chassis, and that a ladder-frame setup will be used. The new model will build on the strengths of the current Innova by offering a roomier cabin and more features. On the outside, the new Innova is described as having “striking” styling cues.

Sources say the new Innova will score well on design.

The Innova is a bread-and-butter model for Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and accounts for as much as 45 percent of sales. In October last year, the MPV was updated visually through a new grille, front bumper and rear reflectors.

Though these updates were minimal, the prices were increased and a new top-end ‘Z’ variant was launched. The Innova’s price now extends up to INR 14.77 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai. The incoming model is not expected to retail for anything cheaper.

  1. Hello! The car is quite sometime away from launch, we are expecting it only in early 2016. So until then we cannot put our finger on the price.

Toyota is full of lazy people. I have a Innova. The machinery is good and extremly, but in all these years they only change the grill and call it all new. The interiors and exteriors look boring and average. I dont see any point to change my old innova with a new one. Its just the same. I hope they can learn something from Honda.

Toyota taken up good decision to make AT, Because in future Indian road going to face terrific traffic all over roads manual gear means miserable. In future roads going to ruled by only option to drive is only by Automatic transmission. Good effort by Toyota already perfect, proven, un compatible toyata innova. you can add only auto transmission still more lower of your car.

Toyota takes too much time for planning & study to bring AT for the successful brand like Innova.

it is too late and thank god atlast they are planning to introduce in 2016.

Actually i believe it is too early, they must take another 10years to decide whether or not?.

Boss u ar making to much time for the autotransmission innova it will spoil ur market as the customers ar shifting to other options.
And on the other hand u have that technology in other country and want to compete to other world class brands by a basic manual technology.
Not expecting this from a world re nowned company.
