Unveiled in December 2012, the third generation Skoda Octavia will get a facelift next year. In preparation, Skoda have already started testing the refreshed Octavia (you can view the spyshots in the source link below).

The test mule seems to wear a sportier front bumper with redesigned air pockets. Since the prototype is camouflaged extensively, we are unable to ascertain other changes to the outside of the car. While its early to speculate, we don't think Skoda engineers would be making drastic changes to the exteriors, interiors and mechanicals of the car.

Based on the VW Group's MQB platform, the new Octavia launched in 2013 is claimed to be 102 kg lighter than its predecessor. The weight shedding comes in spite of a wheelbase extension of 108 mm and a width extension of 45 mm.

The Octavia was introduced in the Indian market in October last year, and within the three weeks it went on sale, over 1,000 bookings were recorded. The sedan is available in India with 1.4- and 1.8-liter TSI engines and a 2.0-liter TDI engine.

A four-door coupe-styled variant of the Octavia is also expected shortly. The car was previewed through the VisionC concept at the Geneva Motor Show this year.
