Mercedes-Benz unveiled the long wheelbase version of the 2014 Mercedes C-Class at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show.
The long wheelbase C-Class gets an additional 80 mm of space in the back, expanding its wheelbase from 2,840 mm to 2,920 mm, taking the car's overall length from 4,686 mm to 4,766 mm. The rear bench has also been extended by 25 mm.
The 2015 C-Class made its international debut at the NAIAS last year. The long wheelbase version, however, will be sold only in China. It will be manufactured by Daimler's joint venture in China, Beijing Benz, in two variants - Sedan and Sport Sedan.
Mechanically, the long wheelbase C-Class is the same, retaining the petrol engines available internationally. For the base C 180L, the engine makes 115 hp at 5,000 rpm and produces peak torque of 250 Nm between 1,600 and 4,200 rpm.
The mid-level C 260L in both the Avantgarde and Elegance trims get the same engine with the output increased to 150 hp at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 310 Nm between 2,000 to 4,300 rpm. The top of the line C Class, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine, makes 367 hp.
