After debuting as a concept last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Lexus LF-NX's production version has finally been unveiled at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show as the Lexus NX. The vehicle will go on sale globally during the second half of 2014.
The Lexus NX is powered by three engines -
- NX 200t - The NX 200t uses an all-new 235 hp 2.0-liter turbo direct injection gasoline engine matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.
- NX 300h - The NX 300h uses the Lexus Hybrid Drive with a 194 hp 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine, generator, motor and battery and is sold in front-wheel drive and all-weather drive variants.
- NX 200 - Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter gasoline engine, the vehicle is driven through a Sequential-Continuously Variable Transmission (S-CVT)/Multi-drive transmission.
The crossover measures 4,630 mm in length, 1,844 mm in width and 1,645 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,659 mm.
The NX compact SUV is based on Lexus’ L-finesse design language in which the front is characterized by Lexus’s spindle grille, signature headlamps, independent Daytime Running Lights, and unique corner styling. On the sides, puffed up rear wheel arches get black protective finish and a steeply raked tailgate gave the concept a coupe-like finish.
The NX, however, has had its design watered down for production. For instance, the grille is tamer and the concept car’s LED lights are replaced with traditional projector lamps. The corner styling of the production car is styled far less aggressively than the concept.
