Ford China unveiled the Ford Escort production-version at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show.
The car has been designed in Australia and it will be manufactured in China by Changan Ford. It will positioned between the Focus and the Mondeo when its hits the market this year.
The production-version is very similar to the concept Ford Escort that made its debut last year at the Auto Shanghai.
The Escort gets the trademark hexagonal grille and the same projector headlamps as the concept. The grille and headlamp combination is quite similar to the Ford Fiesta/Focus/Fusion models.
Powering the Escort is a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine that makes 112 hp and 140 Nm of torque.
On the inside are six airbags and an innovation that Ford calls as the Device Dock. "A new way to store, mount and charge devices like mobile phones, MP3 players and satellite navigation systems, the Device Dock integrates them seamlessly into the in-car entertainment system," says Ford.
