American muscle car maker Dodge unveiled the 2015 Dodge Challenger at the New York Auto Show.
The 2015 Challenger is available in eight trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker, 6.4-liter Scat Pack and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker. It will be built at the Brampton, Ontario assembly plant. Production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2014.
The muscle car gets a host of engine options, starting from a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that churns out 305 hp mated to an 8-speed automatic. Next is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine for the R/T variants that makes 375 hp and is mated to a 6-speed Tremec manual gearbox. The optional Scat Pack gives the Challenger a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 making 485 hp mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Both V8s get an 8-speed automatic as options. All models are rear-wheel drive only.
In terms of changes to design, the redesigned front fascia on the 2015 Dodge Challenger is complemented by a new hood. The rear has been given a new look with new taillights and a new rear bumper.
