Tata has silently launched the updated Aria in three variants with prices starting from INR 9.95 lakhs (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
On the outside, the refreshed Aria gets side body decals, dual barrel headlights with projector lights, clear lens for the taillight clusters and a black bezel for the headlamp cluster (available only on the top-end model).
Mechanically, the Aria's 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine is retuned to produce more power. It now makes 150 PS at 4,000 rpm which is 10 PS more than the outgoing model, while peak torque stands at 320 Nm between 1,500-3,000 rpm. Tata have not introduced an automatic gearbox however.
Thanks to the engine retuning, the 2014 Aria is much more frugal returning an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 15.05 km/l as against 13.7 km/l of the older model.
The Aria is offered in three variants with 4x4 technology being reserved to the top-end model. The top-end Pride 4x4 also gets features such as front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, TCS, ESP, automatic climate control, a 360 Watts JBL-Harman sound system with 10 speakers, 17-inch alloy wheels, Black and Plum dual-tone interior, automatic headlights and wipers, cruise control and a Navteq navigation system.
