The Fiat Punto facelift was caught on test recently by Team Fiat's member Shashank. The refresh will be the first major makeover for the hatchback in India, as previous model year changes have only brought about new color options or alloy wheel designs.
The refreshed Punto will sport redone front and rear bumpers with tweaked taillights. However, these images reveal that Fiat India may not go by the international Punto facelift’s design. We notice that the Punto spotted here features headlights borrowed from the Avventura crossover. Our artist, Shoeb, has already made a rendering of this.
The interiors of the Punto facelift will be comprehensively revamped and will look identical to that of the refreshed Linea which was launched in India earlier this month. We do not expect to see any mechanical changes, so expect the refreshed hatch to sport the same engine options as the current car.
Two petrol engines, a 1.2-liter and a 1.4-liter, are offered while the diesel Punto is powered by Fiat’s 1.3-liter Multijet motor. The diesel is available in two states of tuning of 76 PS and 93 PS. Irrespective of the engine, all variants of the Punto come with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Punto facelift will likely launch in India in the second half of this year. Apart from the Punto, Fiat India will also introduce the Abarth 500 and the Punto-based Avventura crossover this year.
