A revised version of the VW Taigun concept was presented at the Auto Expo 2014. The Taigun concept previews a new small crossover from the German carmaker, and had its world debut in 2012 at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. Subsequent media reports have indicated that VW will produce the Taigun beginning 2016, at two locations (India and Brazil).
The Taigun at the Auto Expo is painted in a new orange color. More importantly, the concept features a bootlid mounted exposed spare wheel with a split tailgate design. Based on the VW Up! platform, the Taigun measures an Indian friendly 3,859 mm (with the spare wheel, it measures 3,995 mm but according to Indian measurements, the spare wheel is not included in length). VW specifically calls the concept a four-seater car.
Power for the Taigun comes from a three-cylinder 1.0-liter TSI engine producing 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and 175 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm. This would give the crossover a 0-100 km/h time of 9.2 seconds and a top-speed of 186 km/h.
