Posted on: Feb 15, 2014 - 12:24pm IST

Nissan has started the bookings for the Datsun Go hatchback. The Go will go on sale next month, and interested customers can pre-book the car at Nissan dealerships for a sum of INR 11,000. The first set of display cars will arrive towards the end of this month, or beginning next month.

Dealers inform us that two variants will be offered – a low-end and a top-end. Both variants will be priced below INR 4 lakhs ex-Showroom, All India. For now, the Go will be sold in four body colors – blue, white, red and gray. Nissan will offer a 2 years unlimited warranty on the car.

Pre-bookings for the Go have commenced at Nissan dealerships.

Powered by a three-cylinder, 1.2-liter engine, the Go outputs close to 68 PS and 104 Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency claim for the Go stands at 20.6 km/l.

The Go measures 3,785 mm in length, 1,635 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height and 2,450 mm in wheelbase. Late last year, Datsun conducted a nation-wide roadshow of the Go, wherein the hatchback was displayed at frequently visited shopping malls in major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai and New Delhi.

Production of the Go commenced at Renault-Nissan’s Oragadam facility earlier this month. Datsun says that it will make 60,000 units/annum of the Go.

Hi friends u both have not heard Datsun?
Well it has proven it self long back when mentioned cars by u we’re not born.

  2. Aravind says:

Prebook? First of all, this is a new brand to Indians. Second, most of us have not even seen this car. Do they think Indians are stupids to prebook a car? This is not a Honda City or Ford Ecosport..

    Seems very ridiculous to me..

Hey Aravind. Too many assumptions here by you, cool down.

Some people have seen this car at displays and auto shows across the country.

Sure it aint a city or ecosport, even a blind can tell. ) But why impose your view of Indians being Stupid as the view of Datsun. That is wrong ).

      Chill man.

      1. Aravind says:

I think you have interpreted my message differently. They have just displayed this car in just 3 cities, Thats why I have mentioned “Not all of us” instead of “none”. When I say this is not City or Ecosport, I really mean the popularity of the model. City or Ecosport are proven models either in India or in abroad. City has got a great reputation here in India.

And I am not calling Indians as stupid, rather I mean otherwise. I am claiming that we are not stupids to prebook a car with an unknown brand and unknown model. My gut feeling is that most of us average folks think in that direction.

I think people will prebook if it is a proven, famous model from known brand. For example, assume Toyota is going to launch a compact MUV below Innova segment, then there will be a rush to prebook it.

Sure there might be some takers for this prebooking but majority of the people will stay away.

      2. shreyan says:

        Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I does look like that Datsun needs to do a lot more if they want to compete with models from Suzuki, Hyundai or even GM.
