In the build up to its big reveal on February 3, Tata has released short video clips teasing the Falcon 5, or F5. The clips however don't show the car.

Both videos suggest that the F5 will "raise the bar" in terms of design and connectivity. In fact, the car's designer Pratap Bose said on record that the Falcon would sport a new HMI (Human Machine Interface), though further details weren't disclosed.

Technically speaking, the F5 is not an all new car, but a redesigned Manza shortened to duck under the crucial 4 meter length (cars measuring under four meters in length get duty cuts in India). Though Tata already has a compact sedan in the Indigo eCS, the F5 would be a more upmarket offering challenging the likes of the Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and the upcoming Hyundai Grand i10 based sedan.

Tata's all-new Revotron engine will also be making its debut on the F5. This engine, a 1.2-liter MPFI with turbocharging, produces 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,500 rpm. Apart from the turbocharging, this engine also promises to be lightweight and refined compared to Tata's earlier petrol motors.

Going by spyshots, the F5 would sport a comprehensively revised exterior design with sharply cut taillights and a short bootlid. The interior layout may be similar to the current Vista/Manza, but components such as the steering wheel are all new.

After their unveiling on February 3, the Falcon 5, along with the Falcon 4, will have its public debut at the Auto Expo.
