Proton continues to test their new Global Small Car codenamed P2-30A in and around Malaysia. These pictures of the car testing in Genting were snapped by Paultan.org's reader, Ahmad Tarmizi.
Proton is gearing up to the launch the P2-30A in Malaysia within the first half of this year. According to Paultan, the small car's name has been finalized through a naming contest which was open to Malaysian nationals only. The winner will receive a top-end automatic variant of the car (so we know that Proton will launch the P2-30A with a manual and automatic transmission).
As to what those transmissions would be mated to remains unknown. The available reports speak of 'new generation' engines, though further details are not disclosed.
The P2-30A will replace the Savvy and the overall dimensions of the car point to a Honda Brio rival. In fact, Proton is even benchmarking their product with the Brio. Since the P2-30A will be a global car, we expect Proton to sell it in European markets later this year or by sometime in 2015. In Europe, it would compete with the likes of the VW Up! and Hyundai i10.
