IAB Report – Harley Davidson Street 750 makes Indian premiere, customized editions shown
Posted on: Jan 20, 2014 - 7:15am IST
The Harley Davidson Street 750 was unveiled at the India Bike Week last Friday in Goa, for the first time in India. Harley Davidson is also foraying into the urban bike segment for the first time. The bike is compact and has a slightly sporty seating position with specially design handlebars for urban use.
Harley promises nimble handling, good rideability and refinement to attract a new set of customer towards the brand and also to entice Harley owners to opt for a second bike for their daily commute. The 750’s styling is in tune with the other Harleys but is modern and sporty at the same time. It is based on an all-new platform for the first time in 14 years, and features a brand new engine.
Three variants of the bike were on display, major difference between them being the livery and varying use of chrome. In addition, Harley also showcased customised versions of the bike. There plenty of kit on offer for the enthusiasts and one can customise the bike according to his whims and tastes. A point to note is that Harley is promoting customisation even before the launch.
Another highlight and an Indian connection to the bike is in the tyres; the street 750 will sport MRF tyres, exclusively designed and manufactured for the baby Street.
The launch and pricing of the Street 750 will be announced at the 2014 Auto Expo in the first week of February.
