As Indian Autos Blog readers are aware, BMW is working on a facelifted X3 which could be unveiled as early as April this year at the New York Auto Show. The facelift will not be extensive in nature, as these images snapped by Bimmer Today's reader, Christian, show.
Like the 5 Series LCI, BMW designers will give the X3 LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) a mildly redesigned set of bumpers and full LED headlights. According to Bimmer Today, this is as far as the exterior changes will go. The interior changes will come in the form of feature additions such as an improved iDrive system and a Head Up display.
Production of the pre-facelift X3 is reported to end in March this year, which further bolsters the claim that the refreshed X3 is heading to the New York Auto Show. Currently, the X3 is made at BMWs American facility located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The same plant ships CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits of the crossover to BMW India's Chennai plant which assembles it for Indian sales.
In India, the X3 is sold with two engine options, both being diesel units. The base model gets its power from a 2.0-liter 184 hp engine, while the higher variants get a 3.0-liter straight-six engine producing 258 hp. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard across the range.
