This year Nissan India will have to introduce a replacement to the X-Trail (if they wish to retain the nameplate in their lineup) as supplies of the current model would have exhausted.
Nissan has put the replacement, the third generation model, on sale in other countries like the U.S., soon after it received its global launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013.
American production of the Nissan X-Trail, branded as the Nissan Rogue, started at the company's 30-year old Tennessee plant in October last year. To promote the new addition, Nissan have placed an example on view at the Detroit Auto Show.
For American market, the Rogue comes with a single engine option which is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 170 hp and 237 Nm of torque, hooked to Nissan’s XTronic CVT gearbox. Both FWD and AWD variants are available.
In the U.S., the Rogue has been priced from USD 22,490 (INR 13.82 lakhs) for the base 2WD model and extends up to USD 29,420 (INR 18.06 lakhs) for the top-end 4WD model.
