After being showcased at the Bangkok motor show, the Isuzu MUX has landed on home shores in Japan. Essentially a wagon version of the Isuzu D-Max pickup, the MU-X was developed in Thailand alongside the Holden Colorado 7 as a replacement to the MU-7.

However, the new Isuzu shares only its bonnet and front doors with the Colorado 7. The front and the rear fascia have been heavily revised to make sure that the two products don’t cannibalize each other.

Standard MU-X comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, reverse parking sensors, a six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, 14 cupholders, six airbags, and split-fold second- and third-row seats. The SUV has a three-tonne braked towing capacity.

The top end version of the off roader gets all the bells & whistles such as a 7-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and reversing camera, as well as a ceiling-mounted entertainment system with a 10-inch DVD monitor for rear-seat passengers.

The MU-X is powered by a 3.0-liter CRD4 engine that churns 174 hp and 380 Nm of torque, sending power to front or all four wheels via a manual or automatic transmission.

MU-X has been already launched in Thailand and Australia and will soon be available in the Japanese market after the motor show.
