Land Rover have just announced the 2013 Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB) model which will debut later next month at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and the 2013 Guangzhou Motor Show. Along with this (LWB) model also comes along a new top-end ‘Autobiography Black’ model.

2013 Range Rover Long Wheelbase

The Range Rover LWB gets an additional 140mm of rear seat legroom.

Deliveries of both models commence in March 2014, and as far as an Indian introduction is concerned, Land Rover say that USA and China will be the key markets for the Range Rover LWB.

Range Rover LWB Highlights:

  1. Body shell has been lengthened just in front of the rear wheels resulting in an extra 140mm of rear seat legroom.
  2. Rear seats can be customized as executive bucket seats, or as a rear bench. With the buckets, seats can be reclined to 17 degrees (which is 8 degrees more than the standard Range Rover).
  3. Power door blinds and panoramic sunroof are standard features on the Range Rover LWB.
  4. ‘L’ badge located near the front wheel arch identifies this model.
  5. It will be available in Vogue, Vogue SE, Autobiography and Autobiography Black, while a hybrid will be added next year.

  2. Two new 7-spoke 21- and 22-inch wheels available.
  3. Redesigned rear center console with electrically deployed tables with integrated USB sockets and cup holders.

Why can’t they sell this in India also? Is RHD production that expensive as to be non- viable for possible volumes? IMO, this would be an alternative to the EWB Rolls Royce Ghost. As already the current Autobiography goes at a surreal Rs. 3 Crores price-tag in India, maybe this version that would cost even more might appeal to the potential customers who reside in the stratosphere.
