Bajaj Auto's Managing Director, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, confirmed during an investors meeting that the company would launch two "super sportsbikes" under the Pulsar brand by the "middle of this financial year". What you see in this image is the all new Bajaj Pulsar 200, which was caught testing on the National Highway 4, outside Kolhapur, and is believed to be one of the two bikes.
Autocar India notes that Bajaj will launch a fully faired version with clip-on handlebars, a compact yet comprehensive cockpit, quality switchgear and 'smartly' designed alloy wheels.
The new 200 will be based on the 200NS platform sporting a retuned version of the 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine. Power and torque outputs are expected to be approximately 23 bhp and 18.3 Nm respectively. A six-speed close-ratio gearbox, an exposed drive chain and a sporty looking exhaust system are other features anticipated in the new Pulsar 200.
Suspension duties will be assigned to telescopic forks at the front and monoshock units at the rear. According to the report, single, drilled disc brakes will provide the necessary stopping power for the 200.
This prototype certainly looks production ready and Pulsar enthusiasts are sure to like the muscular tank and the overall 'racy' look of the fully faired motorcycle. The new Pulsar 200 is expected to launch before the year ends.
