BMW have started teasing the BMW 2 Series (what should have been called the 1 Series Coupe) with a video clipping. The Bavarians are expanding their model range, and the 2 Series will join the larger 4 Series, to appeal to self-drive customers and customers who are on the market for a sportier car.
The even number Series (2 and 4) will attend to the convertible and coupe buyers, while odd number Series (1 and 3) are for conventional BMW buyers.

The teaser doesn't reveal much, but there are no surprises here. That's because the specifications were accidentally displayed on BMW South Africa's webpage a few weeks ago. At the launch, the 2 Series would come in (at least) 220i, M235i and 220d variants.
The 220d gets a 2-liter turbo diesel engine that produces 181 bhp, whereas the 220i gets a 2-liter turbo petrol that produces an identical 181 bhp but gets to 100kph faster from a standstill.
The M235i is the performance variant (until the M2 is launched) with a 3-liter straight six engine producing 322 bhp, catapulting the car to 100kph from standstill in 5.0s.
By the time the car is shown on the 25th of October (Friday) expect a few more teasers and perhaps a leak.
