The Mazda3 sedan, which was officially revealed in early July, received its motorshow premiere in Frankfurt this week. The length of the KODO-inspired sedan at 4,580mm is 120mm longer than the hatchback, while the wheelbase is retained at 2,700mm.
The cargo space has jumped to 419 liters, 69 liters more than the two-box, and the Cd value has dropped to 0.258 compared to the hatchback's 0.275.
The model is offered with a SKYACTIV-G 1.5-liter gasoline engine making 100hp and paired to a six-speed manual transmission which gives it a mileage of 20kpl in the combined driving cycle and a CO2 emissions of 118 g/km.
The second motor is the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline mill producing 120hp and 165hp depending on the variant. The less powerful variant returns 19.6kpl and emits 119 g/km of CO2 with the manual transmission and 17.85 kpl with 129 g/km of CO2 when matched to an automatic gearbox. The 165hp variant returns 17.24 kpl and a CO2 emissions of 135 g/km.
The last engine option is the SKYACTIV-D diesel that makes 150hp and 380 Nm of torque starting at 1,800 rpm. This variant is driven through a manual transmission and the mileage and CO2 emissions of this motor stand at 25.64 kpl and 104 g/km respectively.
